Party Wave: (N/V) - The act of simultaneously shredding the natural force of an ocean wave with as many of your friends as possible.
Whether you're a first time shredder, or need a refresher to dust off old wax, Surf City Surf School's Daily Group Lessons are a perfect way to learn the ropes and get on the board!
Surf City Surf School's Daily Group Lessons are designed with a few different aspects in mind. At the root, we wish for all new, young, retired, whatever surfers around, to surf and learn together. We created the Daily Group Lessons with visitors and island natives in mind, and supply the space, time and equipment for you to have a fun, knowledgeable and shreddable surfing experience, all while providing the opportunity to meet and surf with new friends! The Breakdown:
Daily Surf Lessons are simple - we meet at the SCSS storefront and cruise over to the beach together. Group lessons are typically 1 instructor with every 2-3 students! The lesson is 1 - 2 hours (we don’t care about time, we just want you surfing, so if the lessons runs longer, so be it!) and includes our invaluable beach instruction, equipment breakdown, "pop-up" routine and, of course, maximum shred! Come to a Daily Surf Lesson and see what surfing is all about!
When?
Book online to jump in on a Daily Group Lesson. We meet at the shop 15-minutes prior to any start time. This gives everyone a chance to high-five before the name game on the beach and the commencement of shredding. The groups are capped at 10, so don't miss out on your chance to learn about the wonderful sport of surfing! You can easily book online to reserve your spot in the session!
Monday - Sunday: 9 AM, High Noon and 2PM

Private Lesson
Always 1-to-1 ratio, always informative and always heaps of fun for 1 person, or your whole group!
Surf City Surf School's Private Lessons are a fun and intimate way to learn about the ocean and surfing. All lessons meet at the surf-schoolhouse (our shop) and students and instructors walk over to the beach together to get started. Please call to book Private Lessons, as we wish to accommodate your surfers with the most convenient time and day.
All Private Lessons include boards, instructors, ocean safety info, surf condition knowledge and assessment, our patented 3-step "pop-up" routine, and plenty of radical rides.
Beyond awesome, personal instruction, these lessons are designed first to educate students on the ocean and its waves, ultimately making new surfers more knowledgeable for their lifetime in or around the sea. The surfing process is fun AND challenging, and supplies visitors and area natives with a new skill they can continue to build on and improve.
A Private Lesson runs for roughly 1.5 hours but anticipate a longer lesson if you have a larger, private group. In short, we don't leave until you've shredded to the max! Private lessons are the ONLY lessons to guarantee 1-on-1 with an instructor!

Advanced Lesson
The Art of Surfing... Continued
If 11-time World Champion Kelly Slater says he's still learning, than so can all surfers! Our Advanced Lessons are the next step in your life as a shredder, and like Kelly said, there is always more to learn and further build on in wave riding.
After any Beginner Lesson (group or private), Advanced Lessons are the next step with the Surf City Surf School. We start at the very basics and move upwards from there. Still trying to master the "pop-up" technique and catch your own waves, we're here for ya with Advanced or repeat lessons. Curious about equipment and want to sample something new with a professional? We can provide the skills to move you to the next stage and board. Interested in competing? With National, Regional and Area surfing titles, we have the team to breakdown precisely how surfing contests work, as well as train, coach and prepare you for your next event.
The idea behind our Advanced Lessons is to continue teaching the art of wave riding. Waves never cease and no two rides are alike, so there is always more to learn. We've worked with some students for years, helping critique their techniques, find the most suitable equipment, meet their competition goals and many, many other facets of surfing beyond your first wave, even if it's just catching the second one!
During Advanced Lessons we spend a full hour working with you IN the water. Some lessons or classes vary if you're interested in the physics of waves, boards or various other fields, but the base is in the water, catching waves and putting yourself in the best position. We want to share our expertise, and we get just as excited witnessing you excel.
